The 7th Annual Business Halloween Costume Contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce was once again successful.  There were 14 individual groups representing 11 businesses entered in the contest.  There were 81 individuals in costumes plus the two out-of-town judges.  All participants were invited to a “dutch treat” lunch at Luckie Street Bistro to show off their costumes.  Every person who competed in the contest registered for a door prize and the lucky winner of the gift basket sponsored by Colonial Flower Shop was Cara Taylor with the Jeff Davis Health Department.  The winner in the Costume Only category was CVS Pharmacy dressed as the music group KISS, with Jeff Davis Hospital-Nurses receiving Runner- up in the Costume Only category.  The winner in the Costume w/Performance category was Southern Background Services performing their rendition of the Wizard of Oz.  There were only 2 businesses in the performance category and the judges commented that both were excellent and their decision was very hard.  The Costume Contest committee members want to take this opportunity to thank every business and each employee for making this year’s event special.  A special thank you is extended to the contest judges, Cindy Boyd and Margaret Hulett, for taking time out of their busy schedules to join in the fun.  The pictures from the contest certainly demonstrate the caliber of costumes won this year and explain why the judges had such a difficult task in awarding winners.  Contestants are already making plans for next year and we can hardly wait!
